Objectives and Contents
Objectives of the Course Unit To provide comprehensive knowledge of the air transportation industry, including its history, development, and current trends. To understand the regulatory frameworks and international standards governing air transportation. To analyze the operational aspects of air carriers, including fleet management, route planning, and passenger services. To explore the economic and environmental impacts of air transportation. To develop skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making as they pertain to air transportation challenges.
Contents of the Course Unit Introduction to Air Transportation: History and evolution of the air transport industry. Overview of global and regional air transportation systems. Regulatory Frameworks and Safety Standards: International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and International Air Transport Association (IATA) guidelines. Safety protocols, security measures, and emergency procedures. Airline Operations and Management: Fleet management, maintenance, and operational logistics. Passenger handling, cargo operations, and customer service. Air Transport Economics and Finance: Pricing strategies, revenue management, and cost control. Financial performance and sustainability in the air transport sector. Environmental Impacts and Sustainability: The environmental footprint of air transport. Technological advancements and policies for sustainable aviation.

The implementation of ECTS has, since its introduction, has been found wide acceptance in the higher education systems across the European Countries and become a credit system and an indispensable tool supporting major aims of the Bologna Process and, thus, of European Higher Education Area as it makes teaching and learning in higher education more transparent across Europe and facilitates the recognition of all studies. The system allows for the transfer of learning experiences between different institutions, greater student mobility and more flexible routes to gain degrees. It also offers a systematic approach to curriculum design as well as quality assessment and improvement and, thus, quality assurance.
