Objectives and Contents
Objectives of the Course Unit The promotion of sustainable development opens up the debates surrounding our relationship with the natural world, what constitutes social progress, and the character of development in the present and into the future. The main aim of this course is to provide students with an introductory yet comprehensive overview of the concept of sustainable development and its application with emphasis on the methods and processes to achieve sustainability goals. After the understanding of general concept, it will be discussed in the context of TOURISM sector/industry. The main aim is to provide the students of tourism with a practical alternative to develop, plan, and mange tourism sector.
Contents of the Course Unit Sustainable tourism has become a newly developed tourism practice around the world. Students not only will learn about the concept and its application, they will also learn and acquire practical knowledge how to establish a viable tourism business that is sustainable and profitable. While an understanding and familiarity with the ‘sustainability’ is established, students will be able to reorient themselves based on their new understanding which will allow them to interact and relate to the environment, resources, communities with a responsible attitude.
Contribution of the Course Intending to Provide the Professional Education This course covers the growth and progress of the tourism and hospitality industry.

AKTS, aynı zamanda, yükseköğretim kurumlarına, öğretim programları ve ders içeriklerinin iş yüküne bağlı olarak kolay anlaşılabilir bir yapıda tasarlanması, uygulanması, gözden geçirilmesi, iyileştirilmesi ve bu sayede yükseköğretim programlarının kalitesinin geliştirilmesine ve kalite güvencesine önemli katkı sağlayan bir sistematik yaklaşım sunmaktadır. The implementation of ECTS has, since its introduction, has been found wide acceptance in the higher education systems across the European Countries and become a credit system and an indispensable tool supporting major aims of the Bologna Process and, thus, of European Higher Education Area as it makes teaching and learning in higher education more transparent across Europe and facilitates the recognition of all studies. The system allows for the transfer of learning experiences between different institutions, greater student mobility and more flexible routes to gain degrees. It also offers a systematic approach to curriculum design as well as quality assessment and improvement and, thus, quality assurance.
