Objectives and Contents
Objectives of the Course Unit The aim of the course is to develop a clear understanding of fundamentals of legal aspects of nursing; to gain knowledge and experience to students relevant to legal aspects of nursing.
Contents of the Course Unit The objective of this course is to provide the non-law student with an overview of significant legal issues that arise in the healthcare context. Nurses are legally, ethically and morally responsible for delivering safe and competent care in the scope of their nursing practice. It promotes a review of legal concepts and regulations under which professional nurses’ practice and notes that ethical and legal issues are often not mutually exclusive. The course also examines concepts, theories, and values applied in ethical decision-making situations and ethical dilemmas in nursing settings of health care.
