Objectives of the Course Unit | This course gives a broad introduction to major global health problems with an emphasis on infectious diseases, the risk factors of disease emergence and the implications for disease surveillance and control in public health. |
Contents of the Course Unit | Issues addressed include the causes and control of: malaria, TB, HIV, malnutrition, acute respiratory infection, diarrheal disease, vaccine preventable disease, water and sanitation and other environmental related health problems, and other child and maternal health issues. The course will also explore a review of current legislation aimed at monitoring and controlling these diseases. |
Contribution of the Course Intending to Provide the Professional Education | The course will also explore a review of current legislation aimed at monitoring and controlling commonly occurring infectious diseases as well as newly emerging infectious diseases |
