Objectives and Contents
Objectives of the Course Unit The aim of this course is to understand the importance of patient-nurse interaction in maintaining and improving the quality of nursing care. In addition, it is aimed to examine the basic elements and therapeutic and non-therapeutic methods that affect this process.
Contents of the Course Unit During the semester the students will deal with topics such as interpersonal communication and counselling skills, interpersonal communication in Nursing, Communication types and tools in nursing, Factors affecting Communication in Nursing, Effective communication and body language in Nursing, Effective speech and expression in nursing, Communication techniques in nursing: Therapeutic Communication Skills- Listening and Asking right questions and finally with Non-Therapeutic Communication Technique.
Contribution of the Course Intending to Provide the Professional Education The importance of interpersonal communication in the health sector is undeniable. Communication skills, which are important enough to affect the performance of the nursing profession, are not congenital, but a skill that can be improved. The success of a nurse or healthcare professional's treatment is also related to its communication skills. In this course, patient-nurse-oriented communication skills will be emphasized, possible cases based on communication problems will be examined and solutions will be developed.
