Objectives and Contents
Objectives of the Course Unit The aim of this course is; to teach students basic physiopathological issues and concepts. This course focuses on the pathophysiology of the most common diseases that disrupt cell, organ, and system functions. In this course, basic physiopathological mechanisms at the cell level are taught. Symptoms and findings presented with exemplary cases, deterioration in organ and system functions are discussed with questions including cause-effect relationship. Using the factual / conceptual knowledge acquired, the student is gained the ability to question and analyze the physiopathological changes in the clinical situations encountered
Contents of the Course Unit This course will be an introduction to human disease and will focus on the fundamental principles of homeostatic mechanisms. The student will explore how alterations in homeostatic mechanisms will disrupt the human body. Mechanisms of disease will be studied by systems and will be examined for the effect that they produce on the structure and function of the body. Common diseases will be used to illustrate concepts.
Contribution of the Course Intending to Provide the Professional Education With this course, the student will be able to analyze the physiopathology of the problems in clinical situations encountered by explaining the physiopathological mechanisms occurring in cell organ and system functions and evaluate the physiopathological mechanisms associated with the symptoms and findings / diagnosis / laboratory results encountered in clinical situations.
