Objectives and Contents
Objectives of the Course Unit Implement control strategies using online optimisation Formulate specifications for adopting/designing different components of a mechatronic system Complete a group design project Prepare a presentation and demonstrate presentation skills
Contents of the Course Unit Advanced mechatronic system design process Analysis of nonlinear mechatronic systems Kalman filtering and applications Robotics Advanced mechatronic control design topics Mechatronic design project
Contribution of the Course Intending to Provide the Professional Education This course builds on the skills introduced in Mechatronic Design I. Students deepen their knowledge on the mechatronic system design process and integrate further tools and skills developed in previous courses. It also develops concepts related to robotics applications, plus advanced topics of mechatronic system design like design for testing and fault-tolerant design. A design project of a complete robotic system with specific dynamic characteristics and sensor requirements is undertaken. The course provides a real life experience related to the practice of mechatronics engineering.
